Horsburgh Lighthouse Memorial Tablet, in Horsburgh Lighthouse on Pedra Branca island. On completion of the lighthouse in 1851, a dedication tablet was installed in the Visitors Room.
Description
The Horsburgh Lighthouse Memorial Tablet of an inscribed plaque, set in a wall panel in the 7th level Visitors Room, in Latin and English reads:
A. D. 1851
THE HORSBURGH LIGHT-HOUSE
is raised by the enterprise of British Merchants,
and by the liberal aid of the East india Company,
to lessen the dangers of Navigation,
and likewise to hand down,
so long as it shall last,
in the scene of his useful labours,
The memory of the great Hydrographer,
whose name it bears.
