Alfian Sa'at dilahirkan pada tahun 1977. Menerima pendidikan di Sekolah Rendah Tampines; Institusi Raffles; dan Maktab Rendah Raffles. Pernah mengikuti jurusan Perubatan di Universiti Nasional Singapura (NUS). Beliau prolifik dalam pelbagai genre termasuk puisi, cerpen, drama dan esei dalam bahasa Melayu dan Inggeris. Beliau juga aktif dalam pergerakan persuratan dengan menjadi anggota dan penulis naskah Teater Ekamatra (1997-2001) dan The Necessary Stage (2000-2001).
