Abstract:
The Speak Good English Movement or SGEM as it’s better known, was started with the idea of encouraging Singaporeans to speak grammatically correct English, so that they can communicate with confidence whether at home, at work or at play. This year’s focus will be on teens, and as a result, parents and teachers, two important influences and role models for teenagers, will be encouraged to help teens acquire a firm grasp of standard English. A major highlight will be the Rock Your World series of events, designed as a year-long series of youth-oriented events, held every Wednesday evening, that aims to promote and showcase the use of good English through music, drama, and The Art Of Persuasion – an oratorical contest/showcase. Use this pathfinder to locate resources on how to speak good English.
